The Summit on the theme of 2017 The demographic dividend and its investment in youth organized by the Economic, Social and Cultural Council of the African Union (ECOSOC) from 18 to 21 December 2017 Arosha Tanzania

The theme of the African Year 2017: harnessing the demographic dividend through investment in youth, as well as on the subject of corruption, which affects and impairs development objectives and threatens the prosperity, stability and development of Africa as the theme for the coming year 2018. The aim of this summit is to address the political, social and economic challenges faced by the African continent, with a special focus on this year's theme of harnessing the demographic dividend through investment in youth as well as an opportunity to discuss corruption issues related to these major challenges.
More than 45 participants representing various African civil society organizations, as well as members of the Standing Committee and the General Assembly of ICOSOK, as well as representatives of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to the African Union and some representatives of other African bodies, for example the African Court, the African Anti-Corruption Commission, The AU Commission as well as a representative of the Tanzanian Prime Minister, who represented Tanzania as host country.

Specific objectives: To strengthen and strengthen the inter-agency relationship between civil society organizations and the African Union and to ensure their participation in leading the implementation of EU programs and policies at the country and continental levels.
To create a space for civil society organizations to contribute to work and to work on what has been achieved in the framework of the road map on the issue of enhancing the demographic dividend through investing in young people in the framework of the application of the AU 2063 agenda at the country level as well as the continental level.

To find new and effective ways to enable the Economic, Social and Cultural Council to work with the African Advisory Body on Corruption to commemorate the year 2018, the theme of which will be "Winning the battle against corruption: a solid path towards the transformation of Africa.
To raise the concerns related to the work of the specialized committees of ICOSOC and its contribution to the achievement of the 2063 agenda of the African Union and to mobilize the support of African civil society organizations in order to define this agenda and achieve its objectives.
The most important issues addressed and their recommendations:
The three-day discussions focused on a range of issues that present major challenges, especially in the matter of activating the participation and participation of civil society groups in the definition of the AU's 2063 agenda and ensuring the implementation of its goals and aspirations, especially during the first decade. The discussions were sometimes held through plenary sessions and sometimes through small working groups that contributed to ensuring the participation of the participants and exchanging experiences and experiences among them in the framework of joint action to achieve the objectives of the Federation's agenda and to ensure joint cooperation between governments and civil society groups in this context.

Role of ECOSOC in the application of 2061 as an advisory body to the AU:
In this context, the meeting stressed the importance of the role of ICOSOC in defining this agenda at the national and continental level, especially in the areas of social and economic affairs, structuring, equality and youth, as well as identifying some areas and challenges that require close cooperation between ECOSOC and African civil society organizations in order to achieve the desired goals. And the publication of a working paper on the challenges of energy for Africa and the promotion of the African air transport sector to realize the hopes of Africa in this field within the framework of 2063 and the development of infrastructure in Africa through its various partnerships.
Other topics such as the role of youth and African civil society organizations in fighting corruption and deepening cooperation between these groups, including ECOSOC, were also discussed with the African Anti-Corruption Advisory Commission to eradicate this phenomenon, which is one of Africa's greatest challenges to development, stability and development.
